Bella the Bluebird and the Seeds of Words

Chapter 1: Always Speak Good Words

In a bright, breezy village called Songbrook, there lived a young bluebird named Bella. Bella had a voice as sweet as a flute, and she loved to sing. But lately, her words were not as sweet as her songs.

"You're so slow!" she'd chirp at Tilly the turtle.

"That's a silly drawing," she'd say to Pip the mouse.

"Ugh, your singing is terrible," she'd tease Robin, who was just learning.

Bella didn't think much of it. "I'm only saying what I think," she told herself. "Words are just air."

But her friends were growing quiet around her. Pip stopped showing her his drawings. Robin practiced his songs alone, far from the meadow. And Tilly, who used to wave cheerfully, now hurried away whenever Bella flew near.

One morning, Bella sat on a branch feeling puzzled. "Why is everyone avoiding me?" she sighed.

"Perhaps I can help," said a gentle voice below.

It was Old Mother Wren, who tended a little garden at the edge of Songbrook. In her apron pocket she carried a small cloth bag.

"Come down, child," she said. "I'd like to show you something."
