The Flowers That Never Appeared
Chapter 1: The Flower Emoji and the Missing Moment
The first sign that something was wrong was not an argument.
It was a flower emoji.
A tiny notification appeared on Daniel’s phone early Saturday morning while rain tapped softly against his apartment window.
“Sarah mentioned you in her story.”
For a moment, he smiled.
He imagined her sitting on the couch in her living room, wrapped in the gray blanket she always used after her surgery. He imagined her seeing the flowers he had left outside her door the afternoon before. He imagined the little happiness that came from knowing someone was thinking about you when you were tired and hurting.
Then he tapped the notification.
The story was gone.
The screen showed nothing but a quiet message:
“This story is unavailable.”
