I’ve been with my girlfriend, Maya, for almost three years.

For most of that time, I thought our relationship was good. We lived together, knew each other’s families, traveled together, and talked about getting married someday.

But there was one thing that always bothered me.

She never posted me online.

Not once.

At first, I didn’t care. I’m not someone who needs to be on social media. But Maya posted everything else. Her food. Her friends. Her vacations. Even our dog.

She would post a picture from a restaurant where you could clearly see my hand across the table, but never my face.

When her friends posted group photos, she would happily share them. But if I was standing next to her, that photo never appeared on her profile.

I asked her about it once.

She laughed and said, “I just like keeping some things private.”
