Oliver’s Birthday Cake
Chapter 1: Happy Birthday
Oliver’s birthday was coming, and he had one big wish: a chocolate cake.
His mother worked at a laundry, and his father delivered parcels. They couldn’t afford a large party, but they promised to celebrate at home.
On his birthday morning, Oliver found a small chocolate cake on the kitchen table.
It had five strawberries on top and a candle in the middle.
Oliver clapped his hands.
“It’s perfect!”
That afternoon, he sat by the window while his mother prepared tea.
Outside, two children from next door were playing with a paper ball.
Oliver knew their names—Aisha and Leo—but he had never invited them inside.
He looked at his cake.
