Poppy the Mouse and the Seed in the Teacup

Chapter 1: Grow Plants

In a cheerful little village called Dewdrop Lane, there lived a young mouse named Poppy. Poppy had round pink ears, a twitchy nose, and a great love for flowers. She liked picking them, smelling them, and tucking them behind her ears.

But Poppy had never grown a single one.

"Flowers just pop up on their own," she would say. "Don't they?"

One spring morning, her neighbor Grandpa Hedgehog was digging in his garden, humming a happy tune. Rows of bright tulips, plump tomatoes, and curly green beans stretched all along his fence.

"Grandpa Hedgehog, how do you make everything grow so beautifully?" asked Poppy.

He chuckled and wiped his paws on his apron. "Ah, little one. Plants don't just pop up. They need a helper. Would you like to learn?"

"Yes, please!" said Poppy.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a tiny brown seed. "Here is a sunflower seed. We'll start small. Do you have a cup?"

Poppy hurried home and came back with a chipped teacup with painted daisies on the side.

"Perfect," said Grandpa Hedgehog. "Plants aren't fussy. Now, let me tell you what every plant needs."
