The Moon’s Song for Busy Thoughts
Chapter 1: Song
On the night that Mina could not sleep, the moon was caught in a tree.
At least, that was how it looked from her bedroom window.
A silver curve rested between two branches, like a little boat waiting for the wind.
“Mum,” Mina whispered, “I think the moon needs help.”
Mum sat beside her and looked outside.
“Keep watching.”
Slowly, the moon rose above the branches.
Mina settled against her pillow. “She found her way.”
“She took her time,” Mum said.
Mina wished she could do that. Her legs were tired. Her eyes were tired. Even her toes felt tired.
