The Thing That Ran Through My Kitchen
Chapter 1: Messy kitchen
The first thing I noticed was the glass.
It was lying beside the kitchen sink, perfectly upright, with a thin line of water slowly running down its side.
I had left it there the night before.
That should not have bothered me. People forget things. People leave cups in strange places, forget whether they locked doors, forget where they put their keys. The human mind is constantly filling in gaps.
But the glass was the same glass I had been holding when I saw it.
And every time I looked at it, I remembered the sound.
Not the sight.
The sound.
A low, broken roar that did not belong in my home.
A sound that made my body react before my mind understood why.
