But beyond the mountains lived the Holy Order, a powerful group of knights who believed that only their own way of life was right. They feared anything different from themselves, and over the years they began to see the people of Nightveil not as neighbors, but as enemies.

At the center of this growing tension was Queen Seraphina, the ruler of the vampire clans. She had two sons: Prince Lucian, the firstborn, and Prince Draven, the younger.

The brothers could not have been more different.

Lucian loved comfort and praise. He enjoyed sitting in the grand halls of the castle, listening to advisors tell him how wonderful he was. He believed that if he kept everyone happy, no one would ever challenge him.
