Bibi the Bee and the Secret Life of Flowers
Bibi the bee watches the children of Buttercup Bend pick flowers and trample the beds, so one morning she flies through an open classroom window onto a desk.
A little bee who teaches children why flowers matter
In a sunny village called Buttercup Bend, there lived a little bee named Bibi. Bibi had fuzzy golden stripes, shimmering wings, and a tiny yellow backpack, which she wore everywhere. It wasn't for books. It was for pollen.
Every morning, she zipped out of the hive before the dew had dried and visited flower after flower, humming a busy little song.
In the same village lived a class of children at Buttercup School. They were kind and clever, but they had a habit that worried Bibi. They picked flowers without thinking, trampled the garden beds while chasing balls, and sometimes said, "Flowers are just pretty. Who needs them?"
"Pretty?" Bibi buzzed to herself. "Oh, there's so much more."
One bright morning, she followed the children to school and landed on the windowsill of their classroom. Inside, a girl named Lila was frowning at a wilted flower in a jar.
"Why does it matter if it dies?" she sighed. "There are lots more outside."
