Dexter the Deer and the Door at Dawnhaven
Dexter the deer races through the Town Hall door ahead of everyone and lets it swing shut on the noses behind him, until one rainy Monday morning.
Hold The Doors For Others
In a bustling little town called Dawnhaven, there lived a young deer named Dexter. Dexter had a spotted coat, springy legs, and a very busy schedule. He was always rushing to school, to the market, to the playground, and he never looked back to see who was behind him.
At the center of Dawnhaven stood the Town Hall, with a big, heavy oak door that creaked and groaned. Every morning, animals streamed through it: mail carriers, shopkeepers, students, and grandparents.
And every morning, Dexter zipped through ahead of everyone else.
"Move along, move along!" he'd say, squeezing past. When the door swung shut behind him, it often bumped the noses of those who followed.
Thud.
"Ouch," said a shy little mouse named Mimi one morning, rubbing her nose.
