But Lobo was different from the other children in the nearby village.

While they played games in the fields and learned songs around the fire, Lobo spent most of her time among the trees. Some villagers whispered that she was strange because she moved quietly, listened carefully, and understood the language of the wild better than the language of people.

But the forest had always been her home.

Many seasons earlier, Lobo had become separated from her family during a dangerous storm. Alone and frightened, she wandered deep into the woods. There, she found a pack of wolves who protected her from the cold and helped her survive. They did not speak like humans, but they taught her important lessons.
