Penelope the Penguin and the Cracked Snow Globe

Penelope the Penguin and the Cracked Snow Globe — story cover

Penelope the penguin would rather say nothing than say sorry, and one afternoon in Otis's empty igloo she spots the snow globe his grandmother gave him.

Apologize when wrong

In an icy village called Frostfeather Bay, there lived a young penguin named Penelope. Penelope was bright and bubbly, and she loved racing across the ice on her belly, whooshing past igloos with her flippers spread wide.

But Penelope had one tricky habit. She hated saying sorry.

"It wasn't my fault," she would say when she bumped into someone. "You were in my way."

"I didn't mean it," she would huff when she hurt a friend's feelings, as if that settled everything.

And when she knew she was wrong, her beak would clamp shut, her cheeks would burn, and she would pretend nothing had happened at all.

"Saying sorry means I lose," she told herself. "I'd rather just not talk about it."
