Pip the Piglet and the Never-Empty Pot

Pip the Piglet and the Never-Empty Pot — story cover

At every meal the piglet Pip piles his plate high and scrapes the rest into the bucket, until a class trip shows him how long a field of wheat takes.

Don't Waste Food

In a cheerful farming village called Harvest Hollow, there lived a young piglet named Pip. Pip had a curly tail, a pink snout, and an appetite as big as a barn. He loved mealtimes more than anything.

But Pip had a careless habit. He took far more food than he could eat.

"I'll have two helpings of porridge, three apples, a whole loaf of bread, and a big bowl of beans!" he would announce, piling his plate high.

Then, after a few bites, his tummy would feel full. "I'm done," he would say, pushing the plate away.

Into the scrap bucket went the porridge, the apples, the bread, and most of the beans.

"It's only food," he would shrug. "There's always more."
