While other children played in parks, went to school, and shared stories with friends, Prava spent his days in a little room filled with the sounds of fluttering wings.

The room was crowded with bird cages. Tiny birds hopped from one perch to another, their feathers shining in the sunlight that slipped through the window. There were bowls of seeds, soft feathers scattered across the floor, and the gentle sounds of chirping voices everywhere.

To Prava, the birds were his only companions.

He knew every bird by its movements. He understood when a bird was hungry, when it was frightened, and when it wanted to play. He watched them fly around their cages and listened carefully to their songs.

The birds were the only friends he had ever known.
