Sammy the Snail and the Garden Wall
Sammy the snail dreams of the top of the old stone wall but climbs in bursts and gives up in between, until he watches Old Gertie, who never rushes.
Consistency
In a sleepy corner of Brightbloom Garden, there lived a young snail named Sammy. Sammy had a swirly golden shell, two wobbly antennae, and a very big dream: to reach the top of the old stone wall, where the morning glories bloomed and the whole garden sparkled below.
"One day," he sighed, gazing up, "I'll see the view from up there."
But the wall was tall, and Sammy was small. He had tried climbing it before, in his own way.
On Monday, he charged up with great excitement. He climbed higher than he ever had before, nearly a whole hand's width! Then he got tired, slid down, and slept for three days.
On Thursday, he tried again, but a drizzle began, and he thought, Not today. He went home.
Then a whole week passed with no climbing at all. Then he climbed like a champion for one entire afternoon, and nothing for the next two weeks.
