The world needs both

Long ago, beyond the golden hills and the forests where silver leaves whispered in the wind, there stood a great city built of marble towers and shining rivers. At the entrance of that city lived a magnificent sphinx named Seraphine, the Swan Sphinx.

Seraphine had feathers as white as winter clouds, wings that sparkled beneath the sunlight, and a voice as gentle as a morning song. People traveled from faraway lands to hear her stories and learn from her wisdom. They admired her beauty and believed that someone so graceful must also understand everything about the world.

But far beyond the city walls, hidden among the dark cliffs and quiet valleys, lived another sphinx named Corva.

Corva was different.

Her feathers were as black as the night sky, her wings were strong and powerful, and her voice was deep and unusual. When she spoke, her words did not sound like a song. Some people laughed. Some people covered their ears. Some people decided they knew who she was without ever taking the time to listen.

“She sounds strange,” they would say.
