Wally the Woodchuck and the Morning Path

Wally the Woodchuck and the Morning Path — story cover

Wally the woodchuck would rather sit than walk, until stiff legs and a foggy mind make him wonder why he is tired, and Grandpa Tortoise taps at his window.

A daily walk is a simple gift to your body and mind

In a quiet hillside town called Birchbrook, there lived a young woodchuck named Wally. Wally had round cheeks, a fuzzy brown coat, and a very comfy armchair that he loved more than almost anything.

"Why walk," he would say, "when I can sit?"

He sat at breakfast. He sat at lunch. He sat through the afternoon, watching the clouds drift by his window. When his friends invited him to the meadow, he yawned. "Too far. Maybe tomorrow."

But slowly, Wally began to notice changes. His legs felt stiff. His mind felt foggy. He got out of breath climbing the stairs to his bedroom, and by evening he felt strangely tired, even though he had done nothing at all.

"Why am I so sleepy," he mumbled one afternoon, "when I haven't moved a muscle?"

Tap, tap, tap.
